New SunPoker Software Released
Introducing the launch of version 1.5 of the SunPoker software! Brighter layout, quicker action and added betting features are now just a click away.
We spent a lot of time asking our players what they want and made these changes for you! We’ve also added some changes to our lobby, which is all a lead up to our brand new 2.0 SunPoker software expecting to be released January 2012!
The new SunPoker 1.5 software includes:
- A different color scheme throughout the software including a new cashier look
- Different SunPoker tables that will make multi-tabling much easier
- The brand new Hand History Replayer is now live to watch your previous hands in video form for an entire session hand for hand.
- The very exciting BackBet side game that allows you to bet on the outcome of the next pocket and community cards.
Keep in mind this is software update 1.5 which is the beginning stages of our 2.0 software which will be a complete overhaul of today’s software. We estimate a January launch for the 2.0 software!

3 women reach final table of IFP World Championship
When a single female participant makes the final table of a major tournament it’s usually enough of a story to receive a mention in the wrap-ups, so when three females landed at the final table of the International Poker Federations World Championship, unless President Obama was the winner you knew it would be the headline!
The three women who navigated the tough field to reach the final table were some of the biggest names in women’s poker: Women in Poker Hall of Fame member Marsha Waggoner, EPT winner Sandra Naujoks from Germany, and EPT winner Victoria Coren from the UK. Coren would fare the best of the three, making it to heads-up play against Spain’s Raul Mestre, but would fall just short of the title as Mestre managed to best Coren in a classic heads-up battle.
The IFP World Championship was an invitation-only tournament that saw 120 players show-up for the $500k freeroll in London, England. The champion of the tournament would pocket a massive 50% of the prize-pool; making this a very top-heavy payout tournament (the Top 3 finishers would take home 80% of the total prize-pool).
Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:
1. Raul Mestre (Spain) — $250,000
2. Victoria Coren (UK) — $100,000
3. Igor Trafane (Brazil) — $50,000
4. Slavko Tomic (Serbia) — $25,000
5. Marsha Waggoner (Australia) — $20,000
6. Sandra Naujoks (Germany) — 17500
7. Takuo Serita (Japan) — 15,000
8. Tim Reese (Germany) — 12,500
9. Kinichi Nakata (Japan) — $10,000
The IFP World Championship was part of the weekend-long event that included the Nations Cup, the first-ever Duplicate Poker tournament, which was won by the team from Germany. Team Germany managed to squeak out the win in the innovative format that awards points based on how well a hand was played (each player is dealt the same hand over the course of the tournament), besting Brazil and France by a margin of 2 points: 24 to 22.

Steps Tournaments Continue
With all the excitement and action happening around SunPoker this week, we wanted to remind you not to miss out on the every growing excitement at the Steps Tournaments!
A friendly challenge amongst players internally as to who can climb to the top, the fastest and who will cash in the $200,000 Guaranteed first!
What step will you start at? Take the first step for only $0.16 and work your way to the top of the mountain for a $215 token to the $200,000 Guaranteed Tournament or would it be at a higher step getting you that much closer to top!
Either way, reaching for $200,000 has never been cheaper or this much fun with SunPoker’s Step Tournaments!
These tournaments are 10 player Sit 'N' Go’s every time you win a tournament you will receive a token to the next step, now of course players can buy in directly to any Steps Tournament at any level, which means you don’t need to start at the bottom!
The tiered structure of Steps Tournaments gives you the opportunity to work your way up from Step 1 to 7; the tournaments are designed to keep you in the game!
If you don’t proceed to the next Step, don’t panic, you can win a token either to repeat the same step or at a lower step. Alternatively you can use any winning tokens, from Step 2 on, to buy in to any of the tournaments listed in the table below with an equivalent buy-in amount.
Your Goal Conquer the 7th Step to win the top prize and play your way to cash in the $200,000 Guaranteed! So get your step on!
