Romanello eyes Triple Crown in $3k ShootoutRoberto Romanello is one of the many young poker talents coming from the UK, and the young star will be eyeing his first World Series of Poker bracelet on Thursday, as he is one of the 10 finalists in the $3k No Limit Holdem Shootout tournament. Romanello already has a World Poker Tour and a European Poker Tour title under his belt, making him a WSOP win away from joining the very exclusive club that is Poker’s Triple Crown winners. Romanello will have to deal with a number of top players, including Antonio Esfandiari and Joe Tehan, in order to win a WSOP bracelet and become the next Triple Crown winner, joining the likes of Gavin Griffin, Roland de Wolfe, Jake Cody, Bertrand Grospellier, and David Kitai. Andrey Pateychuk is in the same boat as Romanello, needing a WSOP win to win the Triple Crown. Because of the Shootout format Romanello will have a similar chip-stack to the other remaining players, and given the equal footing the field is on Romanello has to be one of the prohibitive favorites. So far Romanello has only a single cash at the 2012 WSOP, and since 2009 Romanello has had scant success in Las Vegas –although he did make the final table of the €1,000 NLHE event at the 2011 WSOP Europe. Over the past two years Romanello has over $2 million in career tournament earnings, and for his career he has over $2.5 million in winnings.

Rather than a message how about a little poker humor this week: "Stop cheating!" the dealer told the card player. |
