Justin Bonomo Wins EPT Grand Final €100,000
Justin Bonomo has won the European Poker Tour Grand Final €100,000 Super High Roller event, earning €1,640,000 ($2,167,588). With this massive win, Bonomo’s tournament earnings now surpass $5.2 million.
Bonomo entered the final table of eight with an overwhelming chiplead, holding roughly 41 percent of the total chips in the play. He utilized his chip advantage, knocking out five opponents on his way to the title.
Only six players made the money, and the unfortunate player to bust on the €310,000 bubble was Jonathan Duhamel. Daniel Negreanu was the first player to bust in the money, earning €310,000 ($409,727) after his AK failed to outrace Bonomo’s pocket tens. With this win, Negreanu’s lifetime earnings have surpassed the $15.3 million mark.
High-stakes pro Patrik Antonius busted soon after when his top-pair top kicker ran into Bonomo’s rivered straight. Antonius added €443,000 ($585,513) to his bankroll for his deep finish. Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, fresh off a win at the EPT Berlin high roller event last week, continued his winning ways here with a third-place finish for €621,000 ($820,776). ElkY now has nearly $10.9 million in lifetime earnings.
As a result of all of his bustouts, Bonomo took his sizable lead into heads-up play, where he ultimately defeated Tobias Reinkemeier with his AQ winning the decisive race against Reinkemeier’s 44. The board ran out AK5107, sending Reinkemeier to the rail as the second-place finisher with €1,064,000 ($1,406,289).
