NBC Heads-Up: The Unstoppable Erik Seidel Takes It Down

Congratulations to 2011 National Heads-Up Champion Erik Seidel.
2011 is already proving to be Seidel’s year, adding his1st place prize of $750,000 to his cash ins in Australia, LA, and 4 other final table appearances has moved him into first place on the all-time Tournament Money List with a total of $4.3 Million in cashes already!

When asked what, if anything, he was doing differently with his poker game in 2011, Erik Seidel had this to say:  “Well, the only thing I’m really doing different is I hired a poker coach in early January. But then he lost his job on the TV show ‘Two and a Half Men,’ so now I don’t know what I am going to do.”

That’s right. Erik Seidel just won $750,000 and he is making jokes about Charlie Sheen. This is what we call winning.

All jokes aside, this years Heads-Up championship was a real challenge to Seidel after five straight years of failing to get out of the first round. But something is definitely different with the Poker Pro this year as his path to the finals wasn't easy by any means, he had to defeat, in order, Allen Cunningham, Jennifer Harman, Phil Gordon, Vanessa Selbst and Andrew Robl. Then, in the finals, he had to deal with a very tough Chris Moneymaker, who felled several legends of the game on his own path to the finals.

Modestly, Seidel comments on the match by honoring Andrew Robl as his toughest opponent; “There really were a lot of tough matches. Robl was really tough and that was one that really stood out to me.”

Seidel closes off by saying “I kind of expect it will be a temporary thing,” he said following his latest win.  ”But I’m happy to be there for the moment.”

We hope it’s a long ride for you Erik! Congrats again!

Here are the complete money results from the 2011 NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship:

Message from the CEO

We have a feeling the Progressive Jackpot on SunPoker’s side game is going to be hit real soon therefore we’ve decided to pay a little tribute to the game that increases our back roll by defining the term Progressive Slot!

Progressive Slots; Pogressive Slot Machines are usually Four-Reel machines which offer an open-ended jackpot that increases in value after each pull on every machine within a linked group. The top jackpot can be won only if the maximum number of coins is played and all the winning symbols correctly line up on the pay line.

On a lighter note and a separate tribute here is a little “lol” moment passed around the office today;

A blonde went to Las Vegas. She had been in the casino for about an hour, and realized she was thirsty. So she went to the pop machine in the hall. She put $1.00 in an a Pespi came out, she put another $1.00 in and another Pespi came out, she put one last $1.00 in and another Pespi came out.
A man saw her, and he said: "What are you doing?"

And the blonde said: "Duh!! “Winning”!!!
