Live Events - Stockholm November 2005
This is a report from the Team SunPoker that participated in the Swedish Championship 24th 27th of November in Stockholm.
This was a great trip, and everything sorted out
just fine. All team members was satisfied and had a great time
with Team SunPoker.
The tournament was well organised and every table had dealers
and a tournament monitor close so that everyone could see what
blinds we were at, how many players were left, average chip
count and time left in that level. Each day there was a dinner
buffet included to all participants after 2-3 hours of play.
Only thing is that they were very strict on not allowing anyone
to take pictures at the tables. I did manage to get a few pictures
before I was told about this. We took some pictures out of the
tables as well.
Day one of the Swedish Championship was split into two heats. 1st heat on Thursday had 127 players, and 2nd heat on Friday had 118 players
Thursday 24th
Two of our Team members started in Heat 1 on Thursday. None of these advanced to Saturday.
Picture: Purplehaze and Busen started the Swedish Championship on Thursday. Unfortunately neither of them advanced to Saturday.

Notice that sitting on the right of Purplehaze is
Christer Johanson who is a two-time WPT champion (Black shirt
with yellow and blue logo).

Purplehaze was our first casualty on Thursday. He started out fine and doubled his stack early. At his right was the famous Christer Johanson who is a 2-time WPT champion, and as it turns out it was Christer Johanson, which eliminated our Team member.
After about 5 hours of play the blinds are 100/200 when Purplehaze picks up JJ.
Christer Johanson raises to 600. PurpleHaze has about 2800 left and goes all in. Christer thinks for a while and calls with king queen. A queen on the turn eliminates PurpleHaze.
Busen played for about 9 hours on Thursday and was eliminated just before they where going to stop Day1 and let everyone left advance to Saturday. He was short stacked when he picked up 99. He got his chips on pre flop and was called by AQ. The Ace hit on the turn and bye bye to Busen.
Day 1 Heat 2
On day one 2nd heat we where 6 Team members playing.
GetRake, KillBill2, RonJeremy
MiaWallac, Stemmer_D and LetsBust

I myself GetRake Was the first casualty of the day. I went out while I had half of average stack after about 4 hours of play. I picked up 33 in mid position and just limped in. No Raises. Flop came 3-5-7 (2 harts). Everyone checks to me. I bet 700 (I have about 6500 in my stack and the blinds are 100 - 200 with a 25 ante). The big blind raises to 2.100. After I think for a while I go all in with the rest of my chips. He shows 77 for three of a kind sevens. Turn pairs the board with another 5, and I now only have one out. King on the river means bye bye.
Sizo went out during two consecutive pots about 3 hours later. Both pots were played against the same player, and both times the opponent has AA. On the first of these pots Sizo flopped a straight flush draw with his pair of deuces. He is all in and loses. He only has a few chips left and get it on a few hands later only to be called by the same player, which has AA again. Unbelievable.
CrazyCrock went out at the end of Day one Heat 2. He looses most of his chips with KK against AA. A few hands later he puts in the rest of his chips with 33 and gets called by 10-10. He finishes 35th of the Heat 2 field of 118 players.
This means that 3 of 8 Team SunPoker members advanced to Day 2. Day 2 started with 64 players out of about 240 players. Day 2 would play down to final 9 players. 18 players would be in the money. First price would take home Sek 1.000.000 (About USD 125.000).
KillBill2 was the first casualty of our players in day 2. He went out on the second hand of the day when he flopped the top pair (Jacks). Pocket kings busted him out. He came in 64th place.
RonJeremy get knocked out on 48th place. He picked up KK, went all in and got called by AA. RonJeremy was short stacked before he picked up KK.
LetsBust Finished in the money on 18th place. He had the shortest stack from they where 20 players left. Once they where 19 players left there was another short stack, and Tony wanted to wait and see if he did any mistakes. And he did, and Tony was in the money. At this time he was very short stacked and he eventually got his money in while he had four times the big blind in his stack. He called a raise with his pocked tens and was up against KK. The flop came 8-9-Q. He now has 6 outs, but there was no help. Tony got 18th place and received Sek 14.000 (About $1750) for his efforts.
About the event:
I believe our Team was a lot better than our results show. Every
Team SunPoker member is winning players in the long run. And
as you can see from the report we really ran into some bad luck.
We know that we will improve on other events in the future,
and it is going to be really exiting to see what we can achieve.
We have also talked about the next EPT season. GetRake and Caribbean
Sun should really have a team there next season starting September
2006.
We got some attention among the other participants. And often we got
questions about why we where playing with the Sun Poker gear.
So I believe we generated some new players to Sun.
I see that my camera is not of the best kind, and I will probably
invest in a new one before any other event where we have a team.
Also I need to sort things out with the tournament managers
so that we can be allowed to take pictures on the action. How
strict tournament managers are may vary from place to place.
I hope you find this report to be sufficient.
