2010 WSOP - Day 6

July 15, 2010 – Las Vegas

In May 2010, SunPoker introduced a new twist on winning packages to the 2010 WSOP;
The twist was called “5 ways to the WSOP” offering players 5 different ways to win a VIP Package to different events at the 2010 WSOP.

The promotion ran for 90 days providing players with several satellites to final tables and direct buy in for the opportunity of a lifetime, many were successful and amongst the WSOP Main Event Package winners, was one player that was no stranger to competition…”MrDuo2U

MrDuo2U has been a member of SunPoker since 2009 and began his journey to the WSOP on May 23rd 2010 with a direct buy-in of $535 to the final table of the 5 ways to the WSOP Main Event Package.  Climbing his way to chip leader and successfully defeating his opponent, he was now on his way to Vegas on a $13,000 package that included airfare, hotel and a 2010 WSOP Main Event Buy in.

His bags were packed early as he headed to Vegas 3 weeks before his starting date. The plan was to get familiar with the feel of the Amazon Room at the Rio Casino and Hotel, Las Vegas where the WSOP action was already on its way, playing a few side games was the trick to get lose and in competition mode.

July 3rd 2010, Day 1A; MrDuo2U takes his seat along with another 1124 hopefuls on that day, as the cards were dealt after Greg Raymer’s shout of “Shuffle Up and Deal”.  Blinds kicked off at 50-100 with the button in seat 10. Every player was given 30,000 in starting chips and levels ran for two hours each.

With calm and steady play, MrDuo2U had broken the first day curse and made it to Day 2 with a chip count of 73,175

July 9th 2010, Day 2A: Noon Las Vegas time, 2,414 hopefuls take their seat start the 2nd leg of their dreams, a long day for many but an extremely short one for some.  Playing it safe MrDuo2U exhales a sound or relief realizing that he has made it to the break and successfully survives to sit another day at the Main Event.

July 12th 2010, DAY 3: MrDuo2U starts the day with a chip count of 116,200; 2557 players have made it that far, but by the end of that day only 1240 remain and the money is mark is getting closer.

July 14th 2010, Day 4: Ending Day 3 on a medium level note, MrDuo2U starts Day 4 with 171,100 in chips with the chip leader of the day James Carroll starting that day with 803,00.
1203 players started that day and as the blinds got deeper the players started the fall.  As the 748th player got bubbled, MrDuo2U successfully made it in the money!  A sigh of relief that a milestone was achieved and a new frame of mind must be adapted as Day 4 ended with on 574 players remain.

July 15th 2010, Day 5: Although surviving Day 4, his last hand of that day caused him a 16K hit thus causing him to start with only 155,000 in chips as the new chip leader Tony Dunst housed 1546000. This didn’t cause despair as he was use to the fluctuation of chips and knew that playing in a calm manner and will once again bring him to a rise. So said so done as MrDuo2U ended Day 5 on a high note with a chip count of 728,000 in 133 position with only 206 players remain to start Day 6.
