Is Live Poker's Future Pokertek
Although there is money to be made on live poker, there has been some buzz about how Casinos are skipping the poker rooms to keep room for more table games and that the only reason poker rooms are kept in a lot of casinos is because it brings in people to play their table games.
With all the staff being hired to run poker rooms its understandable that the poker room doesn't bring in much revenue. Then you have the variance of poor dealers that can make mistakes and can be slow.
So lets get rid of the variance of dealers, have it so a 50 man tournament once run by 10 people can now be run very successfully by 3 people and get 50% more hands in an hour.... Oh and lets keep the rake down too, while still making money. How is this done? The new PokerTek PokerPro tables.
It combines the speed and fun of online poker with the face to face live poker action.
This is definitely a positive factor in live poker and should start revolutionizing the live poker world! I have heard a few vegas casinos are going to be switching their poker rooms from dealer tables to pokertek tables in the very near future!

I hope casinos do not remove their poker tables. I haven't seent these tables. How exactly would a pokertek table work?
I don't know how 'removing a dealer' is really going to improve the game. I am not sure I want to stare at a screen or have an auto dealer.
However - I would rather have an automated system than no poker tables.
Poker is the best betting game in the gambling.

i like the idea. Never liked feeling like i had to tip the dealer when I won a pot. He never gave me anything when I lost a hand.
